Sydney Sweeney is setting the record straight on her mom’s birthday party.
The 24-year-old actress came under fire on Saturday (August 27) after a post she made on social media about her mother’s 60th birthday celebration. Sydney took to Instagram to share photos from her mom Lisa’s surprise bash, and captioned the photos from the western-themed party with:
“No better way to celebrate my momma than a surprise hoedown🤠”
After posting the photos, the Euphoria star received huge backlash, with fans quick to point out that one of the guests at the party wore a Blue Lives Matter shirt.
Sydney’s brother Trent likewise shared photos on his Instagram from the party with guests donning MAGA-parody hats. The hats read “Make Sixty Great Again.”
These photos raised even more eyebrows and got people thinking that the party Sydney threw for her mom was a Trump-themed party.
Well, Sydney saw the comments — and she’s taken to Twitter to clear the air. She denied that the party was a political statement. Read what she tweeted right here:
