Square Enix has unveiled a new installment in its Life is Strange series.
Life is Strange: True Colors is created by independent developer Deck Nine Games, the developers of Life is Strange: Before the Storm, and features a new female protagonist, Alex Chen, and her long suppressed psychic power of empathy, which allows her to experience, absorb and manipulate the emotions of others. Square Enix revealed the details of the project during a digital showcase on Thursday.
The story sees Chen’s brother die in a “so-called accident,” which requires her to use her power to find out the truth.
“It has been such an honor to return to the vibrant, emotive, and impactful world of Life is Strange,” said Jeff Litchford, vp at Deck Nine Games, in a statement. “We are delighted to share this new story with you: a story of empathy, human connection, and the struggle to find a place to call home. All of the advancements in storytelling, development technology, and premium voice acting that we have made since Life is Strange: Before the Storm will allow players to be more immersed in the compelling world of Life is Strange: True Colors than ever before.”
The game, which includes a soundtrack features Phoebe Bridgers and Radiohead, will release Sept. 10 on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series S/X, PC via Steam, Google Stadia and the Windows Store.
