
Nick Jonas is set to host the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, it was announced today.
The actor and singer currently serves as a coach on NBC’s The Voice.
Jonas’ recent credits include the movie Chaos Walking and the Netflix holiday series Dash & Lily, on which he served as an executive producer and made a cameo as himself. During his time with Jonas Brothers, the band won three Billboard Music Awards.
Jonas follows three-time BBMA host Kelly Clarkson, who also serves as a coach on The Voice.
Jonas also recently helped announce the 2021 Oscar nominees alongside his wife, actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
The Billboard Music Awards announced its 2021 finalists yesterday, with The Weeknd leading as a finalist in 16 categories.
Other top finalists with multiple mentions include DaBaby with 11; Pop Smoke with 10; Gabby Barrett with nine; and Bad Bunny, Chris Brown, Juice WRLD and Megan Thee Stallion with seven apiece.
The 2021 Billboard Music Awards is set to air live from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Sunday, May 23.
This year’s awards are based on a chart period of March 21, 2020 to April 3, 2021. Finalists and winners are based on fan interactions with music, including album and digital song sales, streaming, radio airplay and social engagement, tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including MRC Data. Fan-voted categories include top social artist and top collaboration.
