While this year’s Oscar Sunday will look different from any before it, that doesn’t mean the celebration is off. Hotels and restaurants throughout L.A., open with lessened COVID-19 restrictions, are offering a wide variety of themed cocktails to celebrate this year’s nominees and an end to a topsy-turvy awards season.

For wine and champagne lovers, the Francis Ford Coppola Winery will mark its fifth year of partnership with the Academy with two 2019 vintages from Sonoma County — a chardonnay and a cabernet sauvignon — that are encased in statuette-like gold bottles, while Piper-Heidsieck will serve as the Oscars’ official champagne partner for the seventh year.

AKASHA The Culver City favorite will offer five cocktails ($20-$25) on its Oscars Watch Party menu including The Minari Mule and The Nomad (aka Vaccinate Me). 9543 Culver Blvd.

COCKTAIL ACADEMY L.A.’s Cocktail Academy, which caters bespoke cocktail experiences, has come up with The Gilded inspired by artist Michelle Robinson’s official Oscar campaign painting. To make it at home, combine 1.5 ounces tequila, ¾ ounce cane syrup, ¾ ounce lime juice, two dashes Angostura bitters and 6 to 8 mint leaves. Shake, strain and top with two ounces of champagne.

JAR The chophouse will serve the FYC ($16) with Yola mezcal, lime juice and kumquat jam. 8225 Beverly Blvd.

Lucky’s Malibu’s All That Glitters cocktail

LUCKY’S MALIBU The new steakhouse’s All That Glitters cocktail ($22) contains Taittinger Comtes Blanc de Blancs champagne, Black Raspberry Chambord and Licor 43, a vanilla-based liqueur, and is garnished with a gold-leaf dipped raspberry. 3835 Cross Creek Road

KIMPTON LA PEER HOTEL The West Hollywood hotel will offer the Oscar 75 ($15) at its restaurant Viale dei Romani, a flute of champagne, gin and lemon juice accompanied by a special champagne-bottle sabering presentation. 627 N. La Peer Drive

The W Los Angeles’ Family Farm cocktail with Ketel One Vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup, Cointreau and Granny Smith apple slices celebrates Minari.

NERANO The Beverly Hills Italian restaurant will serve The Soul ($30), a jazz-club-inspired cognac cocktail served in a decanter filled with Cinnamon Apple Fog and poured over an ice sphere, along with The Mank ($20), a black-and-white egg white sour cocktail with a ribbon of house-made fruit leather cut to look like a piece of camera film. 9960 S. W LOS ANGELES — WEST BEVERLY HILLS The hotel is recognizing all eight best picture nominees on its cocktail menu (starting at $15). It includes the Promising Young Woman-themed Cassie’s Revenge with Balvenie scotch, vermouth, Cherry Heering liqueur and orange and pomegranate juices, along with Hymn for Boseman, a Chadwick Boseman tribute with a garnish of edible flowers. 930 Hilgard Ave.
