Bruce Willis is stepping away from the career he loves.

His family shared a sad health update on the 67-year-old actor and Hollywood icon. In a joint statement signed by Bruce’s wife Emma, ex-wife Demi Moore, and daughters Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, and Evelyn, it was revealed that Bruce is retiring from a acting due to health issues he has been facing.

The joint statement was released on social media:

“As a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.

As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.

This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and we wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.

As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that..”

Aphasia is defined as a medical condition “that robs you of the ability to communicate. It can affect your ability to speak write and understand language, both verbal and written.”

Bruce has enjoyed a lengthy and legendary acting career, with two Emmys and almost 150 credits to his name. His last released project was this year’s A Day To Die, and he still has plenty of completed and announced projects on his IMDB page. He is best known for his iconic roles in the Die Hard films, movies such as Armageddon, Pulp Fiction, The Sixth Sense, The Fifth Element, Sin City and more, and the TV classic series Moonlighting.

Since his retirement and diagnosis was revealed, a continuous outpouring of love and well-wishes has been directed his way and to his family.
