Dan Abrams, chief legal correspondent at ABC News and longtime TV host, is adding winery owner to his resumé.
In December, the media personality purchased popular Long Island vineyard Laurel Lake, with plans to transform it into a luxury winery and lifestyle brand “where Napa meets the Hamptons.” The property sits on the North Fork of Long Island, near Abrams’ home on Peconic Bay.
A wine lover and collector, Abrams is welcoming a baby in the coming weeks, and intends to change the name of the vineyard to represent his children’s names. He has brought on Vanessa Price — a sommelier, wine columnist at New York Magazine and author of the recently released Big Macs & Burgundy — to oversee the winery.
“I’m so excited to invest in the North Fork and this vineyard with the goal of creating a new luxury Long Island wine,” Abrams says. “Expanding into the wine business has long been a passion of mine and this winery presented a perfect opportunity to create an experience that both local residents and seasonal guests will enjoy.”
He and Price plan to rebrand and relaunch the winery this summer.
Abrams, who also has hosted A&E’s Court Cam and Live PD, along with The Dan Abrams Show on SiriusXM’s POTUS Channel, is the latest Hollywood figure to enter the wine game, joining Cameron Diaz and Katherine Power’s newly launched Avaline brand in a space also occupied by the likes of Jay-Z, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, John Legend and Francis Ford Coppola.
